Tell us about yourself and what keeps you busy...
A: Hi Yemzi Thanks for having me!! My name is Amidat Giwa I am session hairstylist by career which keeps me pretty busy. I’m also a wife and mother which also keeps me quite busy especially as we’re both really hands on and family means everything.
What's most rewarding about being a hairstylist?
A: The most rewarding thing about being a hairstylist is the creative process with other artists and bouncing off each other to make art.
What is your career high?
A: So far my career high is recently being signed by Bryant artist and getting to produce amazing work and meeting great artists.
Tell us about your personal hair journey...
A: My personal hair journey since I’ve been taking care of my own hair has always been back and forth with natural and relaxed hair. I just love both so when I want to I switch it up.
Which hair products do you always keep stocked?
A: I always have KeraCare styling range which consists holding sprays, oils sheens, creams and waxes and then I always have the Redken moisturising treatment range.
Fav protective style?
A: My fave protective style would have to be box braids.
What is the biggest black hair myth?
A: Biggest black hair myth is that natural hair is hard to manage!!! For me I think all hair types have complexities. Understanding what works for you and your hair is key.
What are the key 2021 afro hair trends?
A: I think it has to be knotless braids.
