Y: Describe what you do, where you are from and your age...

L: I’m a Music Artist from South East London and I’m 29 years old.

Y: Your name is fierce, we love it, how did it come about?

L: This is honestly the most boring reason but in school, I used to wear these Cat looking contact lenses and everyone said I looked like a Lioness and it stuck. In my old age though, I’ve been through a few things I wouldn’t even wish on trump and I’ve learned how strong of a person I actually am. The power’s in my name.

Y: We know that you've been making music for over 10 years, please share your 3 top tips for fulfilling your dreams...

L:

  • Never Give Up

  • Wholeheartedly Believe in Yourself

  • Always be YOU

Y: What did you do during your time away from music?

L: While I wasn't doing music... I worked for 3 different companies. The last being Metro Bank which I just quit at the start of the month to focus on music. I also had a beautiful Son in that time who unfortunately died so coming back to music has been a huge task for me but I'm glad I am here now.

Y: From the 'Are You Gonna Bang Doe' remix with Funky Dee to ten years later dropping a tune with Will.i.Am, Ms Banks and Lady Leshurr, what has been the biggest challenge?

L: I would say blocking out negativity. For 6 of those 10 years, I stopped doing music. This was partly to do with constantly being told I wasn’t good enough because I wasn’t Light Skinned. I let it get to me and stopped doing what I loved. I don’t regret the break however, I had to do a lot of growing up in that time and that has shaped who I am today and the difference I would like to make to society through my music.

Y: Is it the music industry professionals, the listeners or a combination of the two, how do we prevent colourism in music?

L: I would say a combination of the two but industry professionals got to me because in those days.... AnRs were the ones who could take you to the next level and if they believed you wasn't good enough because you didn't look a certain way... that was it. Today however, that doesn't bother me in the slightest. I am unapologetically me.

Y: What hidden talents do you have?

L: I can play the Piano. I’ll start showing that soon too I think.

Y: Congrats on the PLT collab, I love your catchline 'I'm not a pretty little thing I'm a problem.' What other projects are you currently working on?

L: Thank You! I’m working on an EP which will be released in October. Really excited to give my supporters a new body of work and introduce new listeners to the whole of me!

Y: How would you describe your style?

L: Alternative. I like outfits that can be dressed up or down depending on what I put on my feet. Means I am always ready!

Y: Any celeb crushes?

L: Just waiting for Anthony Joshua to notice me to be honest lol

(Y:We hear you girl and we still love you as much AJ despite last night’s loss!)

Y: And finally what's your favourite quote?

L: Pain is Inevitable, Suffering Is Optional
